Gascoln
Gascoln is a minor figure in Pretenders to the Throne Of God who exists entirely within the retrospective memory of Abellaime, "the Widow." He is identified as a cousin of Abellaime's and, at one point, her favourite among the kin who surrounded her childhood. That preferential closeness did not protect her: upon his return from overseas he revealed himself as a contemptuous brute, and his cruelty became one entry in the accumulated catalogue of humiliations inflicted on her by the family network - a catalogue that includes Uncle Ottovar, Aunt Llamienn, and a withholding teacher - which ultimately drove Abellaime to break free of their collective control and swear to return and claim the Sable Lodge.
