Vinchec
Vinchec is an Armiger servant who appears briefly in City of Last Chances as a drunk patron of the Pledge (taproom) during the night following the Gownhall uprising, when Palleseen soldiers blockade streets across the city - ch 33. He shares the scene with a fellow servant, Pravil, and the pair are loud, inebriated, and confrontational, drawing the attention of the room. His sole function in the narrative is to register the social aftermath of the uprising: he makes a crude joke at the expense of Pel and the Palleseen batons, obliquely references the disruption to Gownhall, and takes part in physically harassing Yasnic before other patrons intervene - ch 33.
Vinchec's appearance is a single, self-contained scene with no sequel. He does not reappear after Yasnic gives away his coins and God shakes his leg in complaint; the taproom closes its doors on him - ch 33. His significance to the novel is therefore purely atmospheric: he is one of the voices in a crowded room that shows how ordinary servants drink, jeer, and stumble through the night after the uprising's failure, their grievances and prejudices surfacing once official authority has momentarily lost its grip on the streets.

Vinchec is a Armiger servant who appears as a drunk patron at the Pledge (taproom) in a single scene during the night following the Gownhall uprising, when soldiers are blockading streets across the city - ch 33. He is in the company of another servant, Pravil, and the two are loud and inebriated, drawing the attention of the room. Vinchec tells a joke centred on the tablethi word, which is the same element used in every baton of the Palleseen occupiers' magic-speaking weapons, quipping that one learns very little by learning it and thereby mocking the usefulness of studying Pel - ch 33. He also alludes obliquely to the uprising that has just convulsed Gownhall, remarking on "the parlous state of education in this city, what with the, you know" - ch 33.
When Yasnic is present at the taproom, Vinchec and Pravil mock, dismiss, and physically shove her - ch 33. Other patrons in the room intervene and force the two servants to pay for Yasnic's drink - ch 33. In a subsequent exchange, Yasnic gives away all of Vinchec's coins; God shakes his leg and complains, but Yasnic is made to shiver at "the great sacrilege of it all" - ch 33. Vinchec does not reappear after this scene.
