The Siblingries are the conjurer-workshops and labour associations of the Hammer Districts, the foundry-and-mill quarter on the south-eastern bank of the river in Ilmar, where the contracts that keep the machinery turning are struck not with living foremen but with the Kings Below. Every factory in their reach runs on bound demons, and the people who re-bind, negotiate with, and manage those demons are the Siblingries' own members - part unions, part guilds of infernal engineering, part a polity that decides collectively when to walk off the job. They matter to the series as the closest thing Ilmar has to an independent working-class power: the one body the Palleseen Occupiers must navigate rather than simply trample, the one force the Armiger mill-owners cannot wholly control, and the one constituency the Gownhall students can ally with but not lead.

Across the single volume in which they appear, the Siblingries move from a recognised but contained internal hierarchy managing grievances and demon contracts, through the arrests and radicalisation that follow the Palleseen sweep, to the mass march they call Wield the Hammer and its annihilation in the streets of Ilmar. The march's failure leaves the organisation shattered on the surface yet structurally intact in the Hammer Districts, where the destruction of the mills and the conjurer shortage hand them a new and bitter leverage over both their employers and their occupiers. Their arc is one of collective ambition meeting a power willing to massacre children and dependants to preserve a supply chain, and of that collective ambition surviving anyway, hardened and more dangerous.
