The Tyrant Philosophers is Adrian Tchaikovsky's fantasy series about cities, empires, gods, occupiers, rebels, hospitals, demons, contracts, faith, and all the messy ways institutions turn people into tools.
The series begins in occupied Ilmar and expands through Palleseen military campaigns, demon-haunted politics, broken faiths, and the aftershocks of empire. Its cast is large, its institutions are usually awful, and its gods are rarely much better than the people worshipping them.
